4 State Troopers Hurt In Brockton Crash With Drunken Driver: MSP
A drunken driver struck two police cruisers, while state troopers were conducting a traffic stop, State Police said.
BROCKTON, MA — Four Massachusetts State troopers were injured in a crash involving a drunken driver Monday morning, according to State Police. The crash happened on Route 27 at West Gate Drive around 1 a.m., when two cruisers stopped a car and were struck by another vehicle while in the breakdown lane. State Police said field training officers and new troopers, who recently graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy, were inside the parked cruisers and injured during the crash.
"The impaired driver’s vehicle, which was traveling north on Route 27, struck the rear of one cruiser, and pushed that cruiser into the rear of the second cruiser that was ahead of it," State Police said in a statement. "The impact then pushed the second cruiser into the 2011 Subaru Forester that had been stopped by the Troopers."
Emergency personnel brought the state troopers to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for non life-threatening injuries. The 29-year-old Brockton resident State Police pulled was also taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and suffered minor injuries.

Police identified the driver they said crashed into the cruisers as Frandy Jose Ramirez Rodriguez, 26, of Brockton. Rodriguez was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, marked lane violations, and failure to take car in starting, stopping, or turning. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court.
