Abington Police Officer Found Dead After Marshfield Standoff
Marshfield Police Chief Phil Tavares said they received several calls from the community concerned for the officer's well-being.

MARSHFIELD, MA — A long standoff between police and a man barricaded in his home near Green Harbor ended in tragedy Monday when Abington Police Officer Alex Kokoros was found dead inside.
Abington Police in a statement described Kokoros as someone who always had a smile on his face and asked that people keep his family in their thoughts.
"Officer Kokoros was only on the Abington Police Department for a few years, but in that time he positively touched so many lives and loved working with the children in the schools," the department said.

Marshfield Police Chief Phil Tavares said the standoff began after the department received several calls from neighbors.
“We received information from some concerned members of the community about a particular person, Tavares told WATD. "They were concerned about their well-being, and that a firearm may have been involved."
