Brockton Firefighters Struggle To Contain Blaze Due To High Winds
Brockton Fire Department responded to a stubborn fire on Crescent Street late Monday night.
BROCKTON, MA—Brockton Fire Department responded to an out-of-control fire late Monday night, struggling to contain the blaze amid fierce wind conditions.
Firefighters were called to the home at 584 Crescent Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. and found the flames quickly spreading from the second floor to the third floor, said to a Tweet from the Brockton Fire Department.
"This is one of the toughest fires I've ever fought in a two-and-a-half story home," Brockton Fire Chief Michael Williams told reporters. "It all relates back to that wind condition. We had a really hard time containing the fire and then extinguishing it."

"There was a period there where because of the wind we thought it may extend to the house next door so we put some water on that house just to protect it and thank God it started blowing in a different direction," he continued.
Everyone inside the home got out safely and no injuries were reported, according to the fire chief, but it was difficult to contain the flames because they continued to re-ignite.

"It's very rare that a house of this size burns for that long without us being able to contain it," said Williams.
The Brockton Fire Department has not released any information on how the fire started and the incident remains under investigation.
