Brockton Man Indicted In Hatchet-Swinging Incident
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office announced Claude Mede was charged with six counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton man accused in a 2019 hatchet-swinging incident at a Main Street cell phone store has been indicted on six counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of destruction of property.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said Brockton Police arrived on Aug. 21, 2019 to find Claude Mede, 38, of Brockton brandishing a hatchet at the cell phone store. Police said Mede ignored calls to drop the weapon and come out of the store.
Police said that when Mede moved toward them they discharged firearm and tasers, and Meede was struck. Mede was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston for treatment.

After State Police and Brockton police conducted an investigation a criminal complaint was taken out against him on Aug. 23, 2019. He will be arraigned on the indictments at Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
