BROCKTON, MA — Brockton police seized more than 175 grams of fentanyl and heroin, plus Oxycodone pills, in separate drug busts this week. The first bust involved a traffic stop and West Chestnut Street and the second was the result of a search warrant execution on Fuller Street.

"Getting these illegal drugs away from our community, and holding those who profit from them accountable is one of our main priorities," said Lt. Paul Bonanca. "We want to thank our state police partners for helping in the effort."

On Monday, Brockton police said a detective working an unrelated case witnesses a man driving a Ford Taurus conducting what the officer believed was an illegal drug sale. The detective followed the driver and said he observed a hand-to-hand exchange on Cliff Avenue.

Police pulled over the Taurus and detained Delvin Abreu, the driver. Police said a search of the car uncovered 12 plastic bags of Fentanyl weighing 26.1 grams, 17 Oxycodone pills, two cell phones and $300 in cash. Abreu, 21, was charged with fentanyl trafficking and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance charges.

On Wednesday, Brockton police said more than 150 grams of fentanyl were seized from a third-floor resident on Fuller Street following the investigation into Luis Amador, 30, and suspected sale of drugs.

Detectives with the city's gang and narcotics unit, along with the Massachusetts State Police and a Brockton Police K-9, searched the property with police K9 Gerry leading detectives to a container with three bag of drugs. Police said one bag had 10.2 grams of fentanyl and the other contained 141.2 grams of heroin.

A digital scale, another bag with half a gram of fentanyl, $1,642 in cash and several items used to package and sell illegal narcotics.

Luis Amador was charged with trafficking of fentanyl and trafficking in more than 100 grams of heroin. A guilty verdict on those charges could lead to 8 to 30 years in prison on the heroin charge and 3.5 to 20 years in prison on the fentanyl charge.
