Brockton Singer Crowned Miss Massachusetts USA
Sabrina Victor said she is part of an era of change and acceptance in pageants as the latest African-American champion.
BROCKTON, MA — Sabrina Victor is embracing her place as part of a new wave of pageant champions. The newly crowned Miss Massachusetts USA was crowned Sunday and joins a burgeoning era where woman of color are champions of many of the world's major pageants.
"Yes, it's important that many black women are the reigning queens of some of the biggest pageant systems globally," Victor posted on her Facebook page. "Yes, it's important to
recognize that these women are of color. Yes it's important to recognize that these women wear their hair in natural textures. This is an era of change and acceptance, and I'm honored to join the conversation!"
Victor, 23, studied journalism and theater at UMass-Amherst and is a singer, dancer and actress. She also works at Bridgewater State University as a recruitment assistant.

According to the pageant website Angelopedia, she has previously won Miss Black and Gold Alpha Kappa Chapter, Miss Black and Gold, ONECA (Organization of New England Chapters of Alpha) District, Miss Eastern Region Black and Gold and The National Miss Black and Gold 2017-2019 and now, Miss Massachusetts USA 2020.
She supported her campaign for Miss Massachusetts USA with the help of a GoFundMe page that raised $1,517 for what she called "Team Victory."

"I would like to give a final thank you to every single person who supported my campaign by sharing and spreading the word!" she said leading up to Sunday's Miss Massachusetts USA pageant in Burlington. "It means so much to me that I am supported and loved, thank you for believing in me!
