Brockton Stabbing: Mom Charged With Killing 2 Sons

BROCKTON, MA — The mother of two boys found stabbed to death in a three-story apartment building on Prospect Street in Brockton has been arrested. Latarsha Sanders, 43, was taken into custody Monday afternoon, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz announced. She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Brockton District Court on two counts of murder.

Cruz did not give a motive, but said investigators think the boys, ages 5 and 8, were stabbed to death and were killed within the last 48 hours.

"When something as tragic as this occurs, we're all left wondering how, why something like this happens. This was gruesome disturbing heartbreaking crime,” Cruz said.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Police remain at the scene Monday night and the investigation remains active. Investigators said they had no reason to believe there was any immediate danger to others in the neighborhood and there is no lockdown.
