Brockton Teen Pulled From Icy Water Near Easton Line

Brockton and Easton officers are being credited with saving a life after a 13-year-old boy was rescued from chest-deep, icy water.

BROCKTON, MA — Brockton and Easton police are hailing officers for saving the life of a Brockton teenager Tuesday afternoon after they pulled a 13-year-old boy from icy, muddy water behind a house on Goldfinch Drive. Brockton police said the boy's father said Tuesday night that his son is doing OK after being taken to Children's Hospital in Boston, and thanked first responders for their rescue efforts.

Brockton Officers Williams Stafford and Sandy Fonseca, and Easton Officers Chris Aker and Matt Badoud, helped lead the efforts of Brockton and Easton police when they responded to the house near the Easton line. Officer John Sturdevant and his police K-9 Gerry were able to track the boy deep in the woods near water. When police could not locate the boy, the two Brockton and Easton police officers got into the cold water to further the search.

They then found the boy stuck up to his chest and carefully pulled him to safety. Brockton police said the boy was brought by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center before being transferred to Children's Hospital for more evaluation and tests.
