Good Samaritan Medical Center In Brockton Restricts Visitors

The hospital has announced that it will limit visitations starting Monday due to a local and statewide increase in coronavirus cases.

BROCKTON, MA—Good Samaritan Medical Center, located at 235 North Pearl Street in Brockton, has announced that the hospital is putting a temporary restriction on visitors starting Monday, November 30.

The decision to limit the number of visitors at the hospital is a precautionary response to the recent local and statewide increase in COVID-19 cases.

"No visitors will be allowed until further notice," the hospital's website states.

There are a few exceptions to the new guidelines. The hospital said it will allow inside one parent or guardian for pediatric care, one significant other or support person for maternity, labor, and delivery unit, and two parents or support persons for the special care nursery.

The hospital also said other extenuating circumstances, such as hospital and end-of-life care, will be "considered based on the best interest and needs of the individual patient."

"All exceptions must be approved by the care team," the website says.

No visitors will be allowed in the emergency department, at outpatient appointments, or in their waiting rooms. Surgical patients may only have visitors if it is the parent of a child having a procedure.

The hospital said essential visitors will be screened for wellness and COVID-19 exposure when they arrive and will be required to wear a face mask during their visit.

"While we are sensitive to the difficulties facing loved ones of hospitalized patients, our health care team must keep our patients and staff safe during this unprecedented health emergency," says the Good Samaritan Medical Center's website.

"We encourage family members and friends to use alternative ways to interact with their loved ones, including phone calls, FaceTime, and Skype," it continues.
