MA Mom Lindsay Clancy's Triple Murder Case Goes To Jury

PLYMOUTH, MA — The jury is deciding the fate of Duxbury mother Lindsay Clancy.

"The prosecution and defense gave their closing arguments Thursday in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, and the case is now in the hands of the jury," NBC reported.

"Jurors have five options to consider for Lindsay Clancy as they weigh their verdict: guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, not guilty or not guilty by reason of insanity," according to CBS.

"The judge, William Sullivan, told the jurors on Thursday morning that Ms. Clancy would not be criminally responsible if she had a mental disease or defect that prevented her from controlling her actions, or from distinguishing right from wrong," A New York Times story said.

Clancy, 35, is charged with the January 2023 murders of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

"Prosecutors have said that in January 2023, Clancy intentionally strangled the three children with fitness bands in their Massachusetts home before jumping out of a second-floor window," the BBC reported. "Clancy, now 36, was paralysed by the jump and has attended the trial in a wheelchair."

"Clancy's attorneys do not dispute that she killed the children," according to PBS. "But they say she should not be held criminally responsible because she was mentally ill, believing she heard voices ordering her to take their lives and her own."
