MA Mom Drops Kids From Window To Escape Brockton Fire: Reports
Fourteen people were inside the home when the fire broke out around 10 p.m., according to reports.
BROCKTON, MA — A Massachusetts mother was forced to drop her children from a second-story window to escape their burning Brockton home, according to multiple reports.
Reports from NBC Boston and WCVB citing Brockton Fire Department Chief Brian Nardelli said the fire started in a three-story building in the 800 block of Montello Street around 10 p.m. Friday. At least seven people were trapped in the home, according to reports, forcing them to jump out windows to escape the flames.
Mom Myriam Legrand told NBC Boston she had no choice but to break a window and drop her three kids to police waiting below.

“Basically I had no other choice because we couldn’t get out the first door or the back or the door either way because as soon as we opened it the black smoke was coming. It was too late. We just couldn’t do it and if I tried to pass through it with my 3-year-old he wouldn’t have made it. There’s no way my son would have made it," Legrand told the station.
Flames could be seen rising from the building around 11 p.m. as firefighters battled the blaze, according to a WHDH report. The station also reported heavy smoke throughout the area.
