Man Investigated For Stalking Malia Obama Running For Mayor Of Brockton
Jair Nilton Cardos asked Obama to marry him, now he's asking Brockton to vote for him.

BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton man who was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service for stalking Malia Obama is now giving city politics a shot. Brockton resident Jair Nilton Cardoso pulled papers to run for mayor this week. He will need the signatures of 50 Brockton registered voters to make the ballot.
In April, Cardoso was interviewed by Secret Service agents for allegedly following Obama. The New York Daily News reported that he showed up on the fourth floor of the building in Tribeca, held up a sign in a window, and asked for her to marry him. Days later, he followed the former first daughter out of a building in New York City's West Village.
Cardoso said the incident was a big misunderstanding, telling the Enterprise that he held a clipboard and not a sign. He didn't deny the allegation surrounding the marriage proposal.
