Natural Gas Line Ruptured In Brockton: Fire
Brockton fire said Columbia Gas cut off service, and a shelter-in-place advisory was issued, in the area of 1010 West Chestnut Street.

BROCKTON, MA — Brockton fire said gas service was shut off and a shelter-in-place advisory was in place in the area of 1010 West Chestnut Street after a natural gas line was struck and ruptured Monday morning. Brockton fire responded to the scene shortly before noon on Monday and detected a strong odor of natural gas outside.
Drivers were asked to avoid the areas of West Chestnut Street and Manley Street into Monday afternoon.

Brockton fire said gas was not detected inside the immediate buildings. Columbia Gas shut off service to the area early Monday afternoon so work could be done to repair the line.
