Over 200 Brockton First Responders To Receive Coronavirus Vaccine

BROCKTON, MA — Over 200 Brockton first responders are scheduled to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Monday.

Members of the Brockton Police and Fire Departments and Mayor Robert F. Sullivan will be administered the vaccination starting at 10 a.m. at Brockton High School.

“Brockton has been hit hard by COVID-19 and we remain one of the communities in the state impacted most by the virus,” said Sullivan in a statement. “Our frontline health workers have begun getting the vaccine and now inoculating our hard-working first responders is the next step as we continue this public health battle."

"Protecting our police officers and firefighters is crucial as we work to save lives and stop the spread," he continued.

As of Thursday, Brockton has had a total of 9,015 COVID-19 cases, with 949 reported in the two weeks leading up to Jan. 7. The city has an average daily incidence rate of 68.3 and a positivity rate of 11.85%, remaining in the "red zone", or the highest risk of virus transmission, since October 7.
