State Police Arrest 2 Brockton Men On Gun Charges
State Police said a loaded pistol was found in the glove box of a GMC Terrain during a traffic stop on Warren Avenue on Saturday.

BROCKTON, MA — A traffic stop led to an arrest on an outstanding felony armed robbery warrant and gun charges on in Brockton Saturday. State Police said two Brockton men were charged after the stop on Warren Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Antonio Veiga, 32, was charged with carrying a loaded gun, gun possession and a gun violation with prior violent or drug crimes. Manuel Duarte, 24, was charged with carrying a loaded gun and gun possession. Duarte was also arrested on an active felony warrant on armed robbery, intimidating a witness and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Veiga has prior convictions for armed robbery and kidnapping.
Police said they were on patrol in Brockton early Saturday night when they stopped a GMC Terrain with heavily tinted windows for speeding. Police said Veiga, the driver, told officers it was a rental vehicle in someone else's name, while Duarte was not wearing a seatbelt and acting suspiciously. Police ordered the two out of the GMC and searched it.

Police said they located a .45-caliber Hi Point pistol in the glove box and that none of the passengers had a license to carry. A records check determined Duarte's outstanding warrants and Veiga's prior convictions.
The rear passengers were permitted to leave the scene. Duarte's bail was set at $35,000 and Veiga's bail was set at $10,000. They were both set to be arraigned at Brockton District Court.
