BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton man is facing gun and drug charges after a traffic stop on Grove Street Friday night. State Police said George Simpson, 30, was found in possession of a loaded gun with a defaced serial number and about one pound of what was believed to be marijuana when he was pulled over about 7 p.m. on Friday.

State Police said the Troop D Community Action team pulled over Simpson's 2016 Ford Explorer Friday and that he was seen making movements inside of the SUV that caused them to remove him from his SUV. During a search of the Explorer, police said they found a loaded, .40-caliber Smith and Wesson pistol with a defaced serial number, the marijuana, items consistent with the sale of marijuana and $500.

Simpson was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm second offense, a firearm violation with a prior violence or drug crime, receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of ammunition without a federal identification card, carrying a loaded firearm and possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance.
