State Police Seize $40,000 Worth Of Marijuana in Brockton

BROCKTON, MA — State Police arrested a Boston man Wednesday after officers seized 10 pounds of marijuana, police said the man was trying to sell. Police estimated they seized up to $40,000 worth of marijuana. Dennis Correia, 30, was charged with possession of a class D with the intent to distribute.

Around 9 p.m., undercover state troopers in an unmarked cruiser said they witnessed a drug deal in a rented white Chevrolet Cruze near Oscar Avenue in Brockton. Police said they followed the car, but the driver suddenly accelerated and evaded the troopers.

About 35 minutes later, the same state troopers were patrolling East Ashland Street and said they saw the same white cruiser turn from East Main Street to East Battles Street. When police turned on their lights, police said Correia stopped the car and tried to walk away. Then, Correia went back to the car and began"frantically" moving in the passenger seat, according to police.
