Suspect In Custody After Overnight Standoff In Brockton: Police

The incident began around 1:30 a.m. at the home at 33 Davids Street.

BROCKTON, MA — On person was taken into custody early Friday morning following an overnight standoff in Brockton, reported WCVB.

The incident began around 1:30 a.m. at the home at 33 Davids Street, said police. Officers were called to the scene when a gunfire detection system was triggered nearby.

Armed officers surrounded the home and a crisis negotiator spoke with the suspect for several hours and officers were seen carrying a shield while evacuating residents in nearby homes, said WCVB.

Just before 6 a.m., a man in a red sweatshirt was seen exiting the home with his hands up and was taken into custody by SWAT team members. Police have not released the suspect’s name or any information on potential charges against him.

No one was injured in the standoff, but at least one vehicle was damaged, said police. During a subsequent search of the home, a Glock firearm, a long rifle, two high-capacity ammunition magazines, ammunition and crack cocaine were recovered.
