• April is Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, and this year’s theme is “Inspire to Elevate.” More than 2.7 million people live with limb loss or limb difference in the United States. Hundreds of people lose a limb every day. By 2050, the number of amputees in the U.S. will nearly double. The Amputee Coalition has a variety of resources to help you celebrate. And please check out their empowering #WeTHRIVE Stories.
Spotlight Organization
• April is also Autism Acceptance Month, so this month’s spotlight is on the Massachusetts Autism Alliance. This organization is staffed by autism specialists who are also experienced parents of sons and daughters with autism. They provide support and resources for people with autism at all ages, and their families, from diagnosis onwards. With April school vacation coming up, check out some of their sensory-friendly events ranging from a Teen Digital music group to the organization’s 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Discovery Museum in Acton.
