Family Displaced After Lightning Strikes Their Brookline Home: Report

The bolt struck a second-floor bedroom.

BROOKLINE, MA — Three residents are displaced after lightning struck their home at 677 Hammond Street this week, according to a report from Brookline News.

Resident Adam Whiton said a small fire broke out after the bolt struck his son Reece’s second-floor bedroom on the evening of Tuesday, May 19. Reece Whiton described hearing a noise that sounded like a gunshot and seeing a bright blue flash of light. He was not in his bedroom at the time of the incident.

No one was injured; however, the family is expecting to have to stay with relatives for multiple months before the single-family residence is repaired enough for them to return.
