Brookline Resident Cornered By Coyotes While Walking Dog

BROOKLINE, MA — A resident is recovering after a close encounter with a local predator Tuesday night, according to the Brookline Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene on the corner of Sargent Road and Codman Road at approximately 8:15 p.m. after receiving reports of screams. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a resident who said she was surrounded by three coyotes while walking her dog. According to the woman, one of the coyotes attempted to attack the dog, and she began waving her hands and screaming in an attempt to scare the coyotes away. She then fled to the closest home and was let inside by the neighbors. She was able to get inside safely and contact police, despite the fact that the coyotes followed her all the way up the neighbor’s driveway.

“No human or dog was physically touched by the coyotes, they were not scratched or bitten,” Deputy Superintendent Russell O’Neill told Patch.

The identity of the resident in the situation has not been made public.
