Brookline Restaurant Raises Money For Local Food Pantry

BROOKLINE, MA — A restaurant recently raised more than $2,500 to support the Brookline Food Pantry through a two-week fundraising campaign.

Bar 'Cino, located at 1032 Beacon St., pledged 20 percent of all weekday lunch sales to the nonprofit during its "Dine & Donate" fundraiser, which ran from May 4 through May 15. The campaign ultimately generated more than $2,500 for the organization.

The Brookline Food Pantry provides food security and nutritional support to local individuals and families. According to the organization, it serves more than 600 households each week and supports more than 400 students through its Brookline Thrives weekend food program.

"We are incredibly grateful to our community and guests who came out to support this fundraiser," Bar 'Cino General Manager Raphael Oliver said in a statement. "Partnering with the Brookline Food Pantry allowed us to pair our passion for great food with our commitment to our neighbors in need, and raising more than $2,500 shows what our community can achieve when we come together to support a great cause."

Customers contributed to the fundraising effort by ordering from the restaurant's weekday lunch menu, which includes sandwiches, pizzas, pasta dishes and entrees.

Brookline Food Pantry representative Elizabeth Boen said the donation will help support the organization's ongoing efforts to address food insecurity in the community.

"Partnerships like this are vital to our mission," Boen said in a statement. "This generous donation from Bar 'Cino and their guests will directly fund our efforts to combat local food insecurity and support Brookline families."

The pantry aims to provide food and related support services in an inclusive environment for Brookline residents, offering options that address dietary restrictions, communication needs and cultural preferences.
