Thai Dessert Cafe To Celebrate Grand Opening In Brookline Village

The business is slated to be open seven days a week.

BROOKLINE, MA — A new Thai dessert cafe is preparing to open in Brookline Village this weekend.

Chaba Cafe will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, June 13 at 224 Cypress St. The business specializes in Thai street-style desserts and beverages and will be open seven days per week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The cafe's menu features Bangkok rolls, a Thai-style crepe made fresh to order, along with mango sticky rice, fried bananas and other traditional Thai desserts. Customers will also find a variety of specialty drinks on the menu. According to the business, its offerings are prepared daily using traditional recipes and fresh ingredients.

The Brookline Village location offers dine-in service, takeout and online ordering. Chaba Cafe joins a growing collection of independent food and beverage businesses in the neighborhood, bringing a the less-common concept of dessert-focused Thai cafes to Greater Boston.

The new cafe is taking over a storefront previously occupied by Bess's Cafe, a Chinese takeout restaurant known for its dumplings, noodle dishes and scallion pancake wraps. Bess's operated at 224 Cypress St. from 2017 until closing in November 2024.

Before Bess's Cafe opened in 2017, the Cypress Street space was home to Brick Wall Kitchen.
