Brookline Approves New Superintendent

Andrew Bott was unanimously voted in by the School Committee two weeks after he was named their preferred candidate.

BROOKLINE, MA - The School Committee voted Thursday to officially name Andrew Bott the next Superintendent of Public Schools in Brookline.

Bott was named the committee's preferred candidate two weeks ago in a 6-1 'straw vote' with two abstentions. He is currently the principal of Lincoln School and has 14 years of experience in various school administrations around Brookline and Boston.

The School Committee sought feedback from previous employers, stakeholders, community leaders, parents and students throughout the selection process.

"As evidenced in feedback from the Finalist Review Committee, the general public, and the Lincoln School community, Mr. Bott engages, partners, and communicates effectively with parents, community members, and educators," the School Committee said in a release.

Superintendent of Bedford Schools Jon Sills and former Superintendent of Schools in East Baton Rouge Parrish, LA Bernard Taylor were also finalists for the position.

Bott's contract negotiations are still pending.
