Brookline Arrest Log: April 23 - 29

The following arrest report is based on reports for April 23 through 29. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday, weekend reports each Monday, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
- Shoplifting – 40-year-old John Gretchen of Hyde Park. An employee at the Commonwealth Avenue CVS reported someone was taking items from the shelves and placing them in a backpack. He picked up a prescription from the pharmacy, then attempted to leave the store, allegedly without paying for the items in his bag. He was arrested and charged with shoplifting at around 1 p.m.
- Shoplifting – Jose Andrades Alvarado, 19, of Newton. At 3:15 p.m., TJ Maxx loss prevention employee on Harvard Street reported seeing a person taking items out of their packages, and putting them in a bag. Officers found a pair of pliers on him, and over $40 in clothing from the store. Police arrested and charged him with shoplifting.

Warrant arrest – James Thompson of Woodland Road, 53. Police located an active arrest warrant in Thompson's name for two counts of stalking. Police went to his home and spoke with him, he reported he was not due in court until June--police verified the active warrant. He was placed under arrest and charged him on that warrant.
- Shoplifting – 41-year-old Sidi Mohammed Djaider, of Boston. 8:15 p.m., a TJ Maxx employee on Harvard Street reported a shoplifter. An employee said he saw a suspect take items out of their packaging and place them in a bag. The employee confronted him and recovered about $20 in merchandise. He provided a different name to police, who used a passport to confirm his true identity. Police arrested and charged this man with shoplifting and providing a false name.

Operating under the influence of alcohol – Derry, NH resident Olivyer Perez, 41. An officer saw a green Chevy four-door parked outside of a home on Englewood Avenue, parallel parked with the driver slumped over in the driver's seat at around 3 a.m. The officer turned around and noticed that the driver didn't stir, then pulled over and approached the driver. The officer reports that the engine was running and there was some scraped paint on the front fender of the vehicle. After repeated knocks on the window, the driver awoke and spoke to the officer. The policeman determined that he was under the influence of alcohol, and arrested and charged him with operating under the influence, and operating without a license.
