Suspect In Custody After Cambridge Afternoon Shooting
At least two people were injured, according to Harvard University Police.
CAMBRIDGE, MA — One person is in custody after at least two people were injured in a shooting on Memorial Drive Monday afternoon, according to the Harvard University Police Department.
Cambridge police told Patch that its officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunshots being fired near the intersection of River Street. Two people were seen being loaded into ambulances by emergency responders. Trooper Brandon Doherty confirmed to Patch that at least one of the people injured is being treated for a gunshot wound. A black Dodge vehicle was also seen off to the side of the road, having apparently crashed into a tree and a large rock.
Memorial Drive remains closed as the Cambridge, Harvard University, and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the incident. According to Cambridge police, there is no on-going danger to the public.
