Brookline Arrest Log: March 19 - 25

The following arrest report is based on reports for March 19 through 25. Look for weekday incident reports each Saturday, weekend reports each Monday, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
- Operating under the influence of alcohol – A 36-year-old Beacon Street resident. Shortly after 12:30 a.m., after failing to stop for a red light on Beacon Street, the driver of a black Mercedes was pulled over by officers, who reported an odor of alcohol in the vehicle and damage to the front end of the vehicle. A witness reported seeing a black Mercedes crash into a crosswalk signal pole on Beacon Street, when he turned and followed the car. Stefanie, the driver, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, failing to stop for a red light, and leaving the scene of a police accident.

Assault-and-battery of a police officer – St. Paul Street resident, 23-year-old Ayesha Abdur-Rahin. A woman was arrested following a dispute reported at a St. Paul Street resident. Police reported hearing someone yelling from an apartment. When officers went to the scene, they broke up a fight, during which she lunged forward in an attempt to push past one of the officers. She was arrested and charged with disorderly person and assault-and-battery of a police officer, at around 9:30 p.m.

Operating to endanger – Gregory Bregianos, Allston resident age 19. At 1:25 a.m., police attempted to stop a vehicle they reported was speeding on Freeman Street, which then headed toward Pleasant and Thatcher Streets, stopping in the Dexter School parking lot. The passengers got out of the car, one of which tripped and fell in the parking lot, two others were stopped by officers, and the driver was found at the passenger's apartment. One was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and providing a false name. The driver was arrested and charged with operating to endanger.

- Armed assault in a dwelling – Mario Simms, 20, of High Street. Police responded to a dispute between brothers at the High Street home. His brother told police that Simms had threatened to kill him in Portuguese, and had brandished a knife coming toward the brother. Simms was placed under arrest and charged with assault by means of a knife and threats.
- Attempted breaking-and-entering – Angelo Rodriguez. A caller reported an attempted breaking-and-entering on Colchester Street. A subject described as a black man in a black track suit was allegedly breaking into homes. The reporting caller says that the man came into the gate and tried to open the door, jiggling the handle, but unable to get into the home because it was locked. Officers caught up to a man matching the description as he walked through people's back yards, who at one point claimed to be trying to find somewhere to urinate--although he became less cooperative as more officers arrived on scene. Rodriguez was arrested and charged with attempted breaking-and-entering, daytime breaking-and-entering, and three counts of trespassing.
