Brookline High Grad Wins On 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'

He didn't walk away with $1 million, but he didn't go home empty-handed.

BROOKLINE, MA — One of Brookline's own won big on the game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" Tuesday.

Brookline High School graduate Peter Osterweil didn't go home with a million George Washingtons, but he did walk away $30,000 richer than when he showed up in Las Vegas for the show.

Osterweil posted on social media that participating in the game show as a dream come true.

The show features a multiple-choice quiz in which contestants attempt to win a top prize of $1 million by answering increasingly difficult questions. The show is one of the longest-running of a world-wide franchise, based on the program in the United Kingdom.

TV personality Regis Philbin hosted the first version back in 1999. Chris Harrison, of Bachelor fame, began hosting in 2015.

Only a dozen people have answered the final question correctly and walked away with the top prize in the 19-year history of the show. The last time someone won the top prize was in 2009, according to an informal list here.

After Osterweil graduated from BHS, he studied acting, comedy, singing and film production at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. He then moved to L.A. to pursue acting, according to his IMDB bio.
