Brookline Man Comes In Second In BAA 10K Masters Division
He came in second in the men's Master's division just after none other than 2014 Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi.
BROOKLINE, MA — A Brookline man came in second place for the BAA 10k yesterday finishing the 6.2 mile course in 35 minutes flat, second in the men's Master's division and second only to none other than 2014 Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi.
Matthew Herman, 41, ran the race in 35 minutes beating out thousands of others. One is considered a "master" runner when they've crossed beyond 40 years of age, according to the Boston Athletic Association.
For his second-place finish, he won $200, and all finishers get a medal for completing the 10k.

Of the more than 415 Brookline runners who raced, four made the top 100 out of more than 8,000 runners, including Herman. The fastest man was David Wilson,26, who ran the course in 32:03. The fastest Brookline woman was Danielle Bessette, 25, who ran it in 36:40. Brookline resident Michael Goldsmith,32, ran it in 37:42
The fastest runner was Daneli Chebii from Kenya, who ran the course in 27 minutes 57 .2 seconds.

The B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, is the second event of the 2017 B.A.A. Distance Medley, a three-race series that features April’s B.A.A. 5K, June’s B.A.A. 10K, and October’s B.A.A. Half Marathon. Registration for the B.A.A. Half Marathon will open on Wednesday, July 12, at www.baa.org.
