Brookline Man Pleads Guilty To Inappropriate Communication With Minor

BROOKLINE, MA — A resident pleaded guilty in federal court to charges related to inappropriate online communications with a minor on Wednesday, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

William Kahn, 28, was first arrested in December after he reportedly engaged in inappropriate online conversations with an undercover agent pretending to be a 14-year-old girl. Between June and August of last year, Khan had sexually explicit conversations with the agent, discussed meeting in person, and sent a photo of adult male genitalia.

Kahn officially pleaded guilty to the charge of transferring obscene material to a minor. His charge provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. He is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 in response to the growing threat of cyber sexual exploitation of children.
