Brookline Thrives Feeds Brookline Students on Weekends

Brookline Thrives is a free food program for any Brookline school family who may benefit from additional food options over the weekend.

This week’s guest on BrooklineHub In-Depth is Brookline Thrives founder and program director Kim Kushner. Brookline Thrives is a Brookline Food Pantry Program.

Like other Brookline residents, Kushner saw a clear and present need for the 14+% of Brookline Public School students who receive free or reduced meals and went about making a difference. She rightly realized that if students were hungry during the weekday, they would be hungry on weekends as well. Brookline students are benefiting every weekend from Kushner’s efforts.

Brookline Thrives is a free food program for any Brookline school family who may benefit from additional food options over the weekend. Students receive bags of food at school on Fridays to take home. Families may also pick up Thrives food bags on Fridays from 5-6 PM at Brookline Food Pantry locations at 226 High Street and 55R Egmont Street.

When a young person doesn’t eat well, it makes a difference in their school academic performance, as well as every aspect of their lives.
