Brookline Women Win Half-Marathon and 5K in Milton
The Inaugural 13.1 Marathon through Milton was paced by Brookline's Tara Barlow.
The Inaugural 13.1 Marathon sponsored by U.S. Road Race Sports and Entertainment included over 4,100 registered runners for a half-marathon and 5K race on Sunday, June 27.
Brookline made a stellar showing at the race, which started at Prowse Farm in Canton before traveling through the Blue Hills Reservation and the town of Milton.
Brookline's Tara Barlow won the women's half-marathon with a time of 1:28:45. The runner-up was Lindsay Edwards of East Aurora, NY, followed by Jami Lower of Nantucket.

Women from Brookline also took the first two spots in the 5K race. The winner was Elizabeth Zamore followed Lillian Lingham. Bethany Heslam of North Port, FL, was third.
The half-marathon was won by South Boston's Tim Cataggio with a time of 1:13.17. Cataggio ended the day 10 minutes ahead of the pack. He was followed by Chris Johnson of Wellesley and James Burgess of Boston.

The 5K male winner was Brandon Bell of Barrington, NH. He was followed by Oscar Zambrano, Brooklyn, NY and Robert De Angelis, Weymouth.
The 5K event was run by 568 members of Team Challenge, the endurance portion of the Chron's and Colitis Foundation. Over $1.8 million were raised to benefit the cause.
