The book club at EPOCH Assisted Living on the East Side will discuss ‘Brooklyn: A Novel’ on Monday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. Set in Brooklyn and Ireland in the early 1950s, a young woman emigrates from Ireland to America, and finds herself in a Brooklyn neighborhood, leaving her fragile mother and her charismatic sister behind. Not only does she find work in a department story on Fulton Street, she unexpectedly finds love. When devastating news comes from home, she has to choose between her new life in Brooklyn and her family in Ireland.
The EPOCH book club launched eight years ago and remains one of the community’s most popular programs; since its inception, the club has read more than 80 books.
