Ferris Bueller Remake Comes To Brookline: Extras Needed
Brookline Interactive has put out a call for extras for a classic Ferris Bueller's Day off Scene.

BROOKLINE, MA — Remember that classic scene at the end of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off, " where Ferris is in the middle of a parade singing "Twist and Shout" along with his closest hundred or so friends? Well, get ready for a remake, right here in Brookline.
Folks at Brookline Interactive Group are recreating the movie with local faces - and flair.
Anyone in town can be part of the dance portion of the scene. There's a rehearsal at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, just outside Brookline Interactive Group's office on Tappan Street. And then filming will take place at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24. BIG is looking for folks to take part in the dancing, donate props or just appear in the scene.

Last year BIG helped re-create classic films like "Back to the Future" and "The Princess Bride."
It's a community arts project. Brookline Interactive is spearheading the Brookline take on Crowdsource Cinema in Northhampton, which started a similar project four years ago, recreating a whole movie with local actors and community members.

Brookline had its first project last year. The idea is to have community media centers across the greater Boston area recruit locals to recreate scenes from a famous movie. Each media center has its own group of folks participating and then the scenes are sent back to BIG where they're stitched together in the right sequence and the shown on the big screen: Coolidge Corner Theatre.
"Last year the place was packed and people were cheering and laughing at every scene. It's really cool to see yourself and your work on the big screen," said Brookline Interactive Executive Director Kathy Bisbee.
It's also a nice entry point for folks looking to get a start in the medium, she said.
"It's going to be fun," said Erin Kinney of BIG. "And a great opportunity to see how a film gets made in a friendly setting."
Brookline will be behind three scenes in the film, including the parade scene. Filming in Brookline on Aug. 24 will take about two hours, said Kinney.
This year about a dozen community media centers are participating from Boston and Arlington to Peabody and Ipswich.
BIG asks folks interested in participating to sign up here. Want more details? Read about it here: BIG Invites Community To Help Remake Classic 80s Movie
