The group plans to begin its work by conducting civic education and voter outreach initiatives. It named voter registration as an area of town engagement that needs improvement, as elections have historically seen a low turnout in comparison to its population.
Progressive Massachusetts was founded in 2011 and is described as a member-driven, grassroots organization that advances progressive policies on a state level and in specific municipalities through its local chapters. The group supports ideals such as police reform, LGBTQ+ rights, and immigrant rights. It also has its "Legislator Scoreboard” which tracks how local politicians vote on legislation.
