Shopping for a Leather Belt

There are a lot of cheap leather belts but not a lot of quality leather belts.  I was fed up with low quality leather belts and so I began to research on how to buy a leather belt that would last longer than a year.  It turns out that most leather belts are not just a strip of leather but scraps of leather put together around some filler and that's what leads to them falling apart.  When shopping for a leather belt the key words are "full grain leather" because that is the key to a belt made from a solid piece of 100% leather.  Even if the label says 100% leather that does not mean it's full grain, it could still be bonded together from more than one piece of leather.

You can still be frugal and get a high quality leather belt.  You don't have to spend a lot of money.  There are plenty of high quality leather belts that can be had for under $40 and some that are under $20.  Here is a Leather Belt Guide that shows the top selling leather belts that won't hit your wallet to hard.

Another key when buying a belt is the sizing.  You don't go with your pants size when buying a belt because they are sized differently.  Normally you buy a belt that is one or two sizes larger than your pants size.  If you wear a 36" pant then you would buy a 38 or 40 inch belt.  Pay attention to manufacturer specifications regarding sizes.

A leather belt is a must have fashion accessory and instead of buying a number of them over your lifetime, just invest in a high quality leather belt that will last forever.  Full grain leather belts will save you money in the long run.
