Town Of Brookline Urges Residents To Wear Masks Indoors
The recommendation is being made to all residents regardless of vaccination status.

BROOKLINE, MA — The Town of Brookline released a statement Wednesday urging residents to wear masks inside public spaces regardless of vaccination status.
Face coverings are now required in all municipal buildings, but town officials have not yet decided to issue a mask mandate for other indoor public spaces.
“Wearing a face covering when sharing indoor space with others is a simple step we all can take to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and protect our community,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett in a statement.

The town is also asking residents who have not already done so to get vaccinated, especially due to the recent surge of the highly contagious Delta variant.
According to the CDC, those in "areas of substantial and high transmission" should wear a mask in indoor public settings. Last week, Brookline reported 60 new COVID-19 cases and a positivity rate of 1.1%.
