Bedford Green Taking Shape at Bedford VA Hospital

Three months after Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital(Bedford VA)and Peabody Propertiesdedicated a ceremonial cornerstone for Bedford Green, construction crews have made significant progress.

Visiting the construction site at the beginning of October, one can see the framing in place and the building quickly taking shape under the direction of Windover Construction, LLC.

Bedford Green is being developed through the Enhanced Use Lease initiative using approximately four acres of underutilized land on the campus of Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital (Bedford VA). Bedford Green will provide 70 one-bedroom units of permanent, supportive housing with priority occupancy for homeless and at risk Veterans aged 55+. Information about eligibility and applications for Bedford Green will be available sometime in November.

Veterans will have an array of supportive services available with on-site VA case managers and direct access to comprehensive medical, clinical and wellness services offered at the Bedford VAMC.

The community will be LEED for Gold and energy star certified and will incorporate Green Building components.Construction is scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2016.

Bedford Green is being realized by a true public private partnership that utilizes federal and state resources though an unparalleled effort and cooperation by several partners including the Veterans Health Administration, Peabody Properties, Windover Construction LLC, and the Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative.
