Burlington Needs a Nickname
The rising star of Greater Boston should have a nickname, too.
A-Town, Bricka, the Wu, The Hub, The Hill, The Dot, Meffa, JP… there’s no shortage of nicknames for towns and villages in the Boston area.
Burlington is a town inside 128 that is no longer flying under the radar. With the Burlington Mall, Middlesex Mall, Wayside Commons and now Third Avenue with Kings Bowling Alley and Wegman’s Supermarket on the way, it is a rising star of Greater Boston. As such, it seems only fitting that it should have an official nickname to reflect its status.

- B-ling
- Blington
- BurTon (because who wouldn't want to go Downton BurTon?)
Of course this is all in good fun, and you never can tell when or why a nickname will stick (or not). With easy access to Boston, Cambridge, highways, restaurants and shops, Burlington literally has the world at its door. But residents know there’s no better nickname than just calling Burlington ‘home’.
