The Fionda Committee is pleased to announce that Dave Fionda will be meeting with voters on Tuesday July 24, 2012 on the Burlington Town Common from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Fionda is an accomplished professional Jazz drummer, who has performed in New Orleans.

“Events like these concerts are a great way to bring the community together,” Fionda said.  “I can’t wait to meet voters and maybe sit in with the band and my friend, Rico Barr.”

Dave Fionda is a Democrat running a write-in campaign to replace Representative Charley Murphy, who recently announced he would be retiring from the legislature.

“I am looking forward discussing the issues that concern the voters of Burlington,” said Fionda. “I firmly believe that public service should be about putting people first and setting politics aside.”

Dave will bring his lifelong dedication to helping others to Beacon Hill. In addition to having been an elected town meeting member for two terms, he has been appointed to several town boards, including the Land Use Committee, and the Informational Services Advisory Committee. Dave is also a Rotarian, single parent, coach, successful small business owner and entrepreneur.

"I am running because I passionately believe that voters in our District need a strong voice and advocate in these challenging economic times."

Since Charley’s announcement was beyond the June 1st date for candidate withdrawals, he will remain the only candidate on the ballot for the September 6th primary. Should Representative Murphy “win” the September 6 primary, he will then send a letter to the Secretary of State saying that he will not serve.  By rule, the Democratic Town Committees of the three towns in the District, Bedford, Burlington and Wilmington, will meet and caucus. They will them decide who will be the Democratic nominee in the November 6 general election.
