Mama Mia, Here We Go Again! Moms of Burlington Comedy Night
Come share your stories and funny moments as a mother while seeing friends and raising money for True North.
Sunday, September 11th at 7PM is the first Comedy Night for Moms of Burlington which will be held at True North in Burlington. I had this idea about 2 months ago, after my daughter's 13th birithday party (sleepover of course) conveniently coincided with my son getting pneumonia and my husband having to work that night.
I saw a tiny bit of humor (I really mean tiny) during the night itself, but the laughter grew exponentially everytime I told the story. It got me thinking about stress in my life and all of the juggling that we do as mothers, trying desperately to keep it all together.
We've got the laundry, the food shopping (does anyone else out there know when a cashier at Shaws has a new hair style? I do), back-to-school shopping, sibling rivalry, exercising (as long as we haven't pulled a muscle somewhere), ballet lessons, soccer, and then work outside of the home. Oh, I forgot about walking the dog, birthday parties, family events and keeping up with email, phone messages and all other electronic communication. Did I leave anything out? Oh, I think so....

Then, I thought, how great it would be to get together with other Mothers and just laugh about all of the situations we find ourselves in on a daily basis. Burlington is such a small town and we all know each other and understand each other's ridiculously hectic lives. I know that I would enjoy such a night.
I also want to support True North. How many other towns have an independently owned coffehouse? Yes, everyone has a bazillion Dunkin Donuts (us included) and Starbucks, but let's support Paula and her brave endeavor!

I know that the date, September 11th, is a somber one due to the tragedy. But let's mourn, and move on. It's all part of life, the sadness and the gaity. Let's honor the losses by living our lives with smiles, support and connection.
I don't know about you, but this connection with other women is one of the best ways I know to get through a tough day. Please join us for a drink, fun, stories and most of all, support!
