SPRING MUSIC RECITAL FOR DEBBIE GRUBER'S STUDENTS
This post describes the bi-annual recital that will be held next week!

My students will be performing in the Spring Music Recital held on Thursday June 13th at 6:30PM at Heritage Park Baptist Church.
The Music Recital, an iconic event in the lives of many children, is something that I truly look forward to twice a year with my students. Every June and January, the children perform the songs they have been working hard on for the past few months. Some will be playing the piano, some singing and some will be doing both at the same time (not an easy feat!).
This year, more than others, lots of musical genres are represented. Yearning for some Billy Joel? Got that covered. How about Elton John and the Beatles? Lots of songs by them too. And if you like current pop songs by Train and Maroon Five, you'll get samplings of them.

Then their are the classic folk songs like The Water is Wide and Simple Gifts. I never tire of these. Broadway, patriotic songs, classical, latin and blues are all styles that you will hear played with great thoughtfulness and energy! That's a lot of variety.
I heard recently that music is as important to our culture as food. I think this is very true. I think it is true for most cultures. And at this recital, we'll have both! Refreshments will be enjoyed after the show in the Great Room at the church.

I want to express my excitement and pride in the children who are performing next week. They are artists in their own right and are given this opportunity to shine!
