SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. Built in 1855, it was known as the Center School, to serve children living in the center of town since all the one room schoolhouses in various parts of town were filled to capacity. In 1897 the building became Burlington's first Public Library. By 1967 the Police Department occupied the historic building as a temporary headquarters while awaiting the completion of a new police station. The building now houses the Burlington Historical Museum, which was dedicated on April 19, 1975. It is Open for Tours by members of the Burlington Historical Commission on Burlington Day, August 7 and also on August 14. Please Visit
