Burlington Officials Begin Withdrawing Planned Expenditures
Public Works Director John Sanchez withdrew $325,000 in planned town meeting requests.
BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington officials have begun withdrawing planned spending projects as part of its response to the new coronavirus. At the Board of Selectmen meeting Monday, the Selectmen voted to withdraw three articles requested by Public Works Department.
Town departments were asked to identify capital projects that could be postponed. Public Works Director John Sanchez identified three projects, which combine for over $300,000 in cost:
- Drainage and stream cleaning: $200,000
- Pine Haven Roof Repair: $45,000
- Vine Brook Filter Repair: $80,000
Sanchez noted that the town might be able to join the Massachusetts Regional Water Authority by next year, reducing the urgency of the Vine Brook filter repair.
