Burlington Police Department Offering Narcan Training For Residents
The program will take place Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 7-8 p.m. at St. Mark's Church, 10 St. Mark's Rd.

Chief Michael Kent has announced that the Burlington Opioid Outreach Program, will offer a free nasal naloxone and harm reduction training to the public next week.
“Our aim is to provide this critical training to anyone who has a loved one or knows someone who is struggling with addiction,” Kent said. “We encourage anyone who is affected by opioids, whether it’s directly or indirectly, to attend this meeting.”

The program will take place Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 7-8 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 10 St. Mark’s Rd.
Nasal naloxone, otherwise known as Narcan, is an opioid antagonist that can reverse the effects of a potentially fatal overdose by displacing the drug from the receptors in the brain. Attendees will learn how to administer Narcan, and a limited number of free doses of the opioid reversal drug will be avilable following the training. The event is free and open to everyone, even non-Burlington residents.

The training will be led by Dierdre Calvert, a medical coordinator at Column Health in Arlington and Somerville.
