Burlington Police Holding Active Shooter Drill On Sunday

The drill will take place from 6-9 PM Sunday at the Burlington Mall and involve police officers from Billerica, Lexington and Woburn.

BURLINGTON, MA -- Burlington Police will hold an active shooter training drill at the Burlington Mall from 6-9 PM Sunday. The drill will include personnel from the Billerica Police, Woburn Police, Lexington Police, and Massachusetts State Police Departments. The drill is closed to media in the public, but the department said it wants residents to be aware of this training so they are not concerned by the strong police presence at the mall.

"We regularly participate in training exercises like this to ensure that all stakeholders are prepared to communicate and coordinate an effective emergency response," Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent said. "We are grateful for the close partnerships we share with our neighboring law enforcement agencies and with Burlington Mall staff, which are vital to keeping our community safe."

No traffic disruptions are expected as a result of the drill.
