Burlington Resident Charged With Defrauding $2.7 Million From Medicaid
Elena Kurbatzky of Boston and Natan Zalyapin of Burlington were arraigned on charges of making false Medicaid claims and larceny.

BURLINGTON, MA — A Burlington man has been accused of taking part in a scheme that resulted in $2.7 million being stolen from the state's Medicaid program.
Elena Kurbatzky, 44, of Boston, and Natan Zalyapin, 43, of Burlington, were arraigned Tuesday on charges of charges of making false Medicaid claims and larceny, according to the Attorney General's office.
According to an indictment obtained by WCVB, 19 witnesses said they received little to no service and authorities allege that the two billed for services they were not authorized to provide.

Kurbatzky allegedly billed Medicaid for services for herself, despite the fact that she did not qualify for coverage.
The two were arrested Monday night, with Kurbatzky being taken into custody at an airport.
