Burlington Resident, Pet Survive Close Call With Coyote

The dog was left with two puncture wounds, the owner said.

BURLINGTON, MA — A Burlington resident is shaken after encountering two coyotes near Willards Woods in Lexington.

Rebecca Mersiowsky told WFXT that she her dog Bogey was in the woods when they heard a cry from the German Short Haired Pointer. It turned out the yelp was from two puncture wounds left by a pair of coyotes.

Bogey was checked out by a local veterinarian and received a rabies booster. He is expected to be alright.

Due to an increase in coyotes coming near dogs, the town is warning pet owners to keep their dogs on a leach and in sight at all times.
