Burlington Woman Awarded $9.5 Million in Lawsuit Against Fertility Doctor
Jury finds doctor failed to detect she had ovarian cancer, which has since advanced.

A Burlington woman has been awarded $9.5 million in a lawsuit against a Waltham fertility clinic doctor for failing to detect she had ovarian cancer.
Cristen Lebel, 41 and her husband were awarded the money by a Middlesex County jury on Monday which was increased to $11.3 million with interest, her attorney told the Boston Globe.
Lebel’s attorney told the Globe Lebel is now being treated for stage 3 advanced ovarian cancer.

Citing court records, the Globe is reporting Lebel accused her physician at Boston IVF’s Waltham clinic of negligence in not taking steps to detect her cancer from June 208 to May 2009, failing to recognize both signs and symptoms.
