Burlington's "Peter Pan" nominated for theater awards
Burlington actors Mia Campbell and Harry White are among METG nominees this Saturday at Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre, Boston
The Burlington High School Performing Arts Department is thrilled to announce that it has received four nominations for Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild (METG) Musical Awards for this year’s production of Peter Pan. This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 24, in the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre in Boston at 7:00 pm.
Nominated for Best Leading Actress is Mia Campbell, a rising senior, for her role as Wendy Darling. Described as “a proper, perfect Wendy,” “a polished actor with amazing promise” and “astonishingly lovely with a gorgeous voice and presence,” Mia has graced the stage not only at Burlington High School where she appeared last year in one of her favorite roles as Helen Keller in Miracle Worker, but she has also appeared as Beth in Little Women with The Young Company at Stoneham Theatre, and in the role of Margo in Legally Blond on the stage of the Park Playhouse of the Burlington Players.
Honored with a METG nomination for Best Supporting Actor is Harry White, a rising senior who has been recognized for his larger than life portrayal of Captain Hook. Highly praised for his comedic timing, Harry “never broke character . . . stole every scene he was in.” His deep baritone voice “was a dream to listen to” and “he was impressive in his ability to use his body to convey emotion . . . a delight to watch!” Harry was previously seen in Burlington High School’s fall production, Twelfth Night.
